A
Little Roman Scandal
She was a puzzle to Claudius, a challenge and the ultimate mystery. She
came to his party, then abruptly left without chaperone, escort, or
imparting much knowledge about herself. The one fact sticking out is that
Livia is running. Still, he is attracted, and needs to find out why the
beauty is running and from whom.
Livia wants to leave the city, but because of her father's position, she
cannot. He allows her little or no freedom, and is determined to sell her
into marriage to a man twice her age or more. Livia would like to marry
for love, but she knows that is improbable until she meets Claudius. Not
knowing who he is, she accepts his help. Battered and bleeding, she goes
to Claudius, and hides in his home from her abusive father and his
manipulative schemes.
In ancient Rome it was the fathers and then the husbands job to protect
the women in his care. Can Livia Pollia be kept safe by Claudius, and away
from the father who traps her? Can the scandal they promote help her while
bringing her abuser to pay for the crimes against her mother?

A Little Roman Scandal is a must read. I could feel the intensity of the
characters after reading how badly the father had beat the mother then
started on Livia. The story was so electrifying that I was spellbound. Ms.
Mueller weaves stories that impress. With every story she pens, she
instills true believable characters and settings that are canvassed like
beautiful oil paintings for the world to behold their beauty. Wow, this
story really lights the pages!

Rich in
historical detail, this novella is a delightful sweet romance between two
worthy characters set against the vivid, evocative background of Imperial
Rome. Claudius is admirable and Livia is a strong, determined woman ready
to shake off the horrors of her past in order to seize the chance of a new
life full of happiness and love. This is the perfect short read for fans
of ancient Rome.

This book
was so sweet and so full of disappointment which eventually (of course)
turned around. Luc’s search for his wife and child were frustrating and,
in addition to their missing status, there was the father to contend with.
This book was really enjoyable and I would recommend that you read
anything Ms. Mueller writes.

Luc has gone through a terrible time with the
Saracens. His love for his wife is undaunting and he bravely sets about
getting his life in order, still hoping to be able to find her and live
the rest of his days with her. This is a beautiful story of undying love
and perseverance. The plot reads smoothly and keeps the reader enthralled.
Her characters are multi-dimensional and reach into the reader’s heart.
Ms. Mueller uses vivid imagery and a good plot to hold the readers
attention. The reader will be rushing to the end of this book to see if
there is a happy end. This reviewer enjoyed this story immensely and it
was a joy to read.

Matthew is a retired soldier looking for
peace and solitude after the horrors of war and past mistakes. Gabrielle is
a warrior that is trying to stay alive after avenging the wrongs done to her
so many years ago. They are from different worlds, and with different
priorities, definitely not not a pair of characters that you would expect to
meet and fall in love.
This is a wonderful story about loss, pain, growth, and trust. Ms. Mueller
shows us the horrors of Gabrielle’s past through dialogue, creating a
distance for the reader that makes it still painful to learn, but still
readable. She brings us to care and fear for this young woman and what she
has been forced to live through. Matthew is a rare breed of hero, a man that
is sure in himself, and sure of the woman he loves, knowing that to try to
curb her strength would kill her not only by putting her in danger from
others, but by killing her from within.

This is the story of an army which was at a standstill because of a theft of
necessary monies to keep the units moving. Richard’s immediate assignment was to
find that source and get the information needed to correct the problem. How he
accomplishes this task, as well as undermining the local government officials
trying to eradicate him from their midst is essence of Ms. Mueller’s story, The

A Speakeasy Named Hell is an enchanting story. The characters are
believable as the reader is carried back to a time where there was much
heartache during the Depression Era. Ms. Mueller once again creates a
story so vivid that the reader is enveloped in the whole setting. The
romance she instills with her characters is amazing. She makes her heroine
a devoted mother with strong motives as she struggles to keep one step
ahead of everything. This is an extraordinary read that melts the heart.

A refreshing, lovely story, Jennifer
Mueller brings her readers back to the days of the Speakeasy and the
Depression. She uses great descriptive prose to paint her canvas with
feelings, sights and sounds that draw the reader into the whole picture.
The romance elements are subtle but there and she builds her characters in
keeping with the time period. The plot is simple, well written and flows
smoothly. This story is more orientated to the heroine whom the reader
will relate too. She is a strong woman, who has had to fight for survival,
intelligent and tenacious and will reach the heart of the reader.

The Dragon’s Pearl is an exhilarating story
about a young woman dedicated in finding her friend's killer. The secondary

eloquent and gives the reader a feel of the whole surroundings. The Dragon’s

This reviewer recommends this book as a volume to be kept by the bedside
table. In length, characters, plot, setting, and entwined romance, each
story would make an excellent just-before-sleep read, sending the reader
off to Dreamland on a happy, if thoughtful, note. Once again Jennifer
Mueller excels in her grasp of variant historical periods, elucidating
character and providing plot and setting unequaled.

This book consists of a trio of unrelated short stories; however, that is
not a bad thing. Each individual story accounts the anecdote of one lady
in a certain set of circumstances. . . Ms. Jennifer Mueller packed so much
“story” into so few words, and the work flowed so well, it would be
impossible for a reader to not enjoy this book. I highly recommend it!

Jennifer Mueller has written three lovely stories and I enjoyed them all.
The stories are basically about women and the way they live, their fears,
their hopes and the chances they receive in life. I loved all the main
characters because they were strong and knew what they wanted out of life,
even when things got though, they held on. The Odyssey and Other Stories
is an anthology containing sweet and romantic stories that will make you
feel completely relaxed. A collection you’ll surely enjoy!

Empress - China, in the
600’s can prove to be exhilarating when a woman is summoned to visit the
Emperor. Before Lady Jun knows what is happening, she is Empress, after her

for the Emperor’s brother in this wonderful tale. Two Sides of a Coin - It
is the year, 1527, in Spain and threats of the Inquisition abound. After a
prince searches for a bride, he soon finds himself married but the woman is
cold and expressionless, and even in bed, things feel like a duty to her.
Then he sees a gypsy girl, in a nearby camp, who is brazen and feisty, and
he wishes his wife could be like the gypsy. This is one delicious
eye-catching tale. Purgatory - Set in 1536, Italy, a story of a woman that
will tug at the heart. Elina knows that since her mother’s passing, her
father has done everything to try to make her happy, but the suitor he
chooses for her to marry, does not stir sensations in her heart. Moment of

he tries to escape the British, but what they both discover is a lasting
love through the years. Ghost Woman of Rajayan - In the year of 1855, in
India, two people search for love and discover it. The scenery is exotic,
the characters refreshing, and a charming tale where the spirits breathe
life. Hidden From View – USA 1861 - Evangeline Boudreau and her family live
in Lily House. After years past, stories are told, and she inherits the land
but always stays from view with her family in the shadows. An enticing good
read.
Women of Their Time is a marvelous anthology of stories that carries the
reader to a different exotic place in a different year and time. It tells of
daring women that wish to make more of their status and shows their resolve
to take anything that is thrown in their court, by making things positive.
The list goes on with the remarkable tales that are included in this book.
These are only a few that reach out and make the heart joyful, and each one
is superb. Ms. Mueller painstakingly creates powerful stories that captivate
the reader and makes the heart often leap for joy. She takes the reader to
landscapes and settings that appear so life-like and believable with every
word she pens. I always find all her stories extraordinary and delightfully
spun.

This is truly a marvellous collection of short stories that take the reader
away to exotic places in different times. Each story is about a woman of
that time, her circumstances and her determination to master her life and
the curve balls it throws her. Ms Mueller takes us to China in the 600s in
her story Empress where a woman has been called to visit the Emperor. All of
a sudden she finds herself becoming the Empress and has to find her way in
court and watch out for the Emperor’s brother. Then later, again in China,
Ms Mueller takes us forward to 1376. In her story To The Ends Of The Earth
we find a woman who is escaping her father with the man she loves. Her
father is determined to find her but is tired of chasing her. When someone
offers a solution to his problem he readily accepts. Two Sides Of A Coin
takes us to Spain in 1527. Here the dangers of the Inquisition are in full
swing. A prince is looking for a bride and his man finds himself suddenly
married. His wife is cold and emotionless. How he wishes she could be more
like the fiery gypsy girl he’s seen in their nearby camp.
The reader is now completely captivated by these opening stories as Ms
Mueller paints great imagery with her pen, multi-dimensional characters that
leap off the page. Each short story is a nugget that needs to be savoured.
Some of these stories will have the reader gasping in surprise at the twist
at the end and some will give the reader a warm shiver and a glow in her
heart. Ms Mueller continues to capture the reader with heart-warming stories
like Purgatory set in Italy in 1536. Moment of Calm has the reader thinking
she’s right there in the American Colonies in 1777. This story brought tears
to this reviewer’s eyes. It is amazing how Ms Mueller, in these short
stories and with very little words can give the reader such a powerful tale
where the reader can so immerse herself in.
Let us now continue as Ms Mueller also gives the reader a peek at Italy in
1812. This story is called A Stranger, One of Us. Another powerful story
about a woman in quite a dire situation, Catherine, sets herself up in a
small town to have her baby and live her life alone. Then we get swept off
to India in Ghost Woman of Rajayan. This takes place in 1855 and in this
exotic setting two people find love. Oh, this reviewer could go on and on.
You will just have to get this book and read these fabulous stories for
yourself. This reviewer is a firm fan of Jennifer Mueller’s writing and can
only give this anthology a resounding five hearts!
