Ancient Walls
Maya Montgomery just wants a vacation with her son, that's it, but with her
ex giving her trouble to the point of needing a restraining order, even
relaxing involves a fight. At least until everyone in the hotel is kept
inside with days of rain. After the way her ex has been all it will take is
someone being nice to her and Carson is nothing but nice. Nice to look at,
nice to talk to, nice to go to bed with.
For once in her life, things are looking up, until her son is kidnapped and
the note orders her to find a hidden treasure. Treasure not everyone is even
convinced exists and her son's life depends on it. So much for a peaceful
vacation.

Writer's Block
Ever ask an author if the characters take over, if they talk back and do
their own thing. We always give polite answers about how they might
turn out more forceful or sexy than we expected or some other trait. The
real truth might just surprise you. Take one long shipwrecked woman
throw in a newly shipwrecked man with only one place to stay on the island.
Stir vigorously and you'll get. . . Writer's Block!

Ayda Rogers has been given the job of a
lifetime, to work on her doctorate in Fine Arts Restoration/Conservation by
cataloging and restoring a collection of art contained within a Scottish
castle. She’s curious about more than just names and dates, she’s curious
about the people behind the history of the castle. Ayda learns their stories
by combing through records and listening to the stories of the family
members. The only complication in sight is the heir apparent, Hunter. He’s
sexy, intelligent, caring and more of a temptation than Ayda can resist.
This story is told in a series of historical vignettes set within the
contemporary romance. I loved this manner of telling a story. Ms. Mueller
has mastered the art of what might be termed flash backs by setting them in
such a manner that they enhance the story rather than detracting from the
pace of the plot.
She took me on a journey I wasn’t prepared for. A ride of passionate people
finding their way to love no matter what. I especially loved Geneva’s story,
but you’ll have to buy the book to find out what that is. Suffice to say,
when you think all is lost, it isn’t.
The characters are warm, funny, flirtatious, sensual, caring and intelligent
with a host of other things yet none of them are perfect. Although, perhaps
a couple could use lessons in communication, but who of us couldn’t? They
are people, as real as my friends and I was very sorry when their stories
ended.

History Lessons
Ayda Rogers can't
believe her luck she's been invited to a Scottish castle for the summer to
research her Doctoral thesis. When she gets there she finds with 800
years of history to contend with, the past is always present. Steamy
tales of previous castle owners from 1328 and 1714 meld within the modern story
as she learns all she needs for her paper. And sometimes its not the past
but the present which makes you change your whole way of thinking,
especially when it comes in the form of the future Duke named Hunter.

interesting.

I found these main
characters very likable, and I’m always a sucker for a romance that strikes
later in life: Alana is forty-three, with a nearly-grown son, and Robert is
a fifty-year old widower. Yet together they find the happiness and romance
of starry-eyed teenagers. However, Alana’s son Dillon, and Robert’s
classmate and rival for Alana’s affections, Jack, bring good humor to the
story.
The setting of small-town Bally Ferriter, Ireland, is romantic and
well-described, a perfect place for Robert and Alana’s love to bloom. And
although Robert has to return to Boston at the end of the story and leave
his “red-haired angel” behind, readers will be satisfied with the ultimate
surprise ending of this short story.

Once again, Jennifer Mueller composes a tale that captivates and carries the
reader into a vivid place and time that is wonderfully created. The Angel of
Bally Ferriter is a lovely story by a wonderful storyteller who continues to
blend passion and adventure with everything her pen touches. When I read a
book by Ms. Mueller, I know it is going to be good. She is one author who
never disappoints and once again this is an extraordinary story that leaves
a lasting impression as the charming Robert and delightful Alana grace the
pages spinning a delightful story most enchanting.
