TOP
PICK
I always enjoy reading
Jennifer Mueller books. Not only are they well-written, but she writes with
such authority on the history she’s reviewing that it’s really a quite a
treat.
Though this is a contemporary novel it has a historical feel to it. Like her
other books, HISTORY LESSONS is set in a Scottish castle, hence the historic
feel. (You can’t run amok in a castle without thinking about all the
tapestries and the dungeons of bygone years.) I especially loved the hero,
this time around. Hunter has a great opening scene that makes you fall for
him immediately.
So, whether you’re a contemporary romance fan or a historical romance fan,
here’s a Top Pick to check out.

top pick review!

Ayda Rogers has been given the job of a
lifetime, to work on her doctorate in Fine Arts Restoration/Conservation by
cataloging and restoring a collection of art contained within a Scottish
castle. She’s curious about more than just names and dates, she’s curious
about the people behind the history of the castle. Ayda learns their stories
by combing through records and listening to the stories of the family
members. The only complication in sight is the heir apparent, Hunter. He’s
sexy, intelligent, caring and more of a temptation than Ayda can resist.
This story is told in a series of historical vignettes set within the
contemporary romance. I loved this manner of telling a story. Ms. Mueller
has mastered the art of what might be termed flash backs by setting them in
such a manner that they enhance the story rather than detracting from the
pace of the plot.
She took me on a journey I wasn’t prepared for. A ride of passionate people
finding their way to love no matter what. I especially loved Geneva’s story,
but you’ll have to buy the book to find out what that is. Suffice to say,
when you think all is lost, it isn’t.
The characters are warm, funny, flirtatious, sensual, caring and intelligent
with a host of other things yet none of them are perfect. Although, perhaps
a couple could use lessons in communication, but who of us couldn’t? They
are people, as real as my friends and I was very sorry when their stories
ended.

Ms. Mueller just proved that not only is she a good storyteller, but she is
great at it! She has mastered her craft in a way that leaves you breathless.
Ms. Mueller is giving us more than what we thought we'd get with History
Lessons. She actually takes us through time. History Lessons leaves you
breathless and yearning for more. For more love, for more history, and for
more of those handsome Highlanders.
You will love this book. From the first letter to the End. History Lessons
is a keeper, for its wonderful characters and its breathtaking love stories!

History Lessons is a remarkable journey
that kept this reader spellbound. I loved the character of Ayda in her
willingness to be independent and just set off traveling to new discoveries.
Hunter has a sex appeal that transcends through the pages. The way the story
opens up bringing the reader into a trip so vivid; one gets the feel for
everything in the area, right down to the men wearing their kilts. The story
of the ghosts of Eoin and Seonaid and the little girl walking along the sea
gave me a few goose bumps. Ms. Mueller creates some interesting characters
that make this one magnificent read. She places the reader in the complete
ambience of the town, the people, and the whole history of the castle. At
times, I felt as if I were walking through each area and beholding the
artwork. She breathes life into this story at every turn. This captivating
tale carries the reader to the Scottish landscape and her passionate people
rich in history. Ms. Mueller pens a story that flows consistently with
beautiful dialogue and romance that leaps in the heart. She can tell me a
story anytime, and never disappoint. Once again a story most extraordinary
and highly recommended that leaves a lasting impression for this reader.

With History Lessons, Jennifer Mueller has written a very special book, one
of the best books I have ever read. She puts the past and the future
together and that’s what I like so much about this book. Also the main
character Ayda is very interested in history and in life. And of course in
love. Travel with Ayda through the history of a Castle and its inhabitants.
History Lessons is a page-turner. I strongly recommend you to read it
yourself!

Charming and heart warming, you will be swept away by the breadth and scope
of the Scottish landscape, not to mention the passionate highlanders. I
found each romantic story to be intriguing, and extremely steamy! If you are
looking for a book where you can be swept away by broad landscapes, flowing
narrative and beautiful, manly characters then sit down and prepare for your
history lesson. It’s well worth the ride!

A wonderful love affair between a man and a woman that is truly worth the
read. Jennifer Mueller has turned a walk through history into a remarkable
work of art with History Lessons. This slowly unlocked look into the past
lives of the Sinclairs will be most enjoyable for all romance lovers. Follow
Ayda as she wonders through each room of an ancient castle and stumbles upon
something or someone that wants her to find out a secret.

I enjoyed this book immensely. The rich historical imagery captivated me and
everything is so vividly portrayed I could see it all. Jennifer Mueller is a
wordsmith, and History Lessons a treat. I fell right into the center of Ayda
and Hunter's relationship, it was so realistically written. The idea of a
400-hundred-year-old poker game still has me grinning! This is one story
that shouldn't be missed!

Jennifer Mueller has written a wonderfully original and creative story
filled with intrigue and passion. She has masterfully created a sense of
intrigue and suspense. Elise is a woman on the run, shipwrecked, and
stranded on an island not knowing whom she can trust. A sense of
desperation and fear is easily felt through the words of the author. Elise
is attracted to Broderick. Can Elise trust Broderick or is he seducing her
to find out her mission? Broderick, a handsome highlander with his
charming brogue, has a history of using women for physical enjoyment. The
people that work at the castle love to gossip about their employer's many
escapades. Is Broderick all that he appears or does he also have secrets?
The chemistry is real and passion is just waiting for an excuse to explode
between them. This is a thrilling tale that will definitely intrigue the
reader with its suspense. It will delight the reader with its passion and
romance. A romance filled with suspicion and misunderstanding that will
keep the reader guessing until the very end. The dialogue is well written
and flows smoothly. The plot to discover the truth about Elise is
completed and easily understood. The setting, a castle on an island north
of Scotland during WWII, is described in detail, making it easily
visualized. I found this story highly entertaining and recommend it as a
passionate romance filled with suspense and intrigue.

Intrigue,
suspense, and romance with each flip of the page. An outstanding book that
I could not put down until I discovered what had happened to the two
lovers. A clever and well written story that keeps you guessing until the
end, then makes you shout for joy. A truly excellent book read. Jennifer
Mueller has a winner with Once Upon a Spy. A wonderfully written romance
story that truly excels.

~Rose
Among the Heather by Jennifer Mueller~
Jennifer Mueller’s offering to the book is a beautiful story about two
damaged people finding love with each other. When Rose and Edward meet,
their connection is instantaneous, and further exploration of their
relationship proves they are more than well matched. I loved her portrayal
of a romance where two people find more than love – they find friendship,
understanding, and the ability to heal their past wounds together.

Rose Among the Heather by Jennifer Mueller
Edward Sinclair, Duke of Cairnmuir has returned home after war. Instead of
peace, he finds his mother in the midst of planning a ball. Unfortunately,
she decides he might as well find himself a wife as there will be plenty of
eligible females around. He meets Rose, a widow and he finds himself
entranced by her.
One of the two favorites in this anthology as the characters are fully
developed and the author does a fine job of telling their story. Edward is a
great hero with the sensitivity most women would want in their own men. Rose
is the perfect match for him. The best compliment I could give is that I
would still be entertained by the story even if the author did not include
any of the erotic actions.

Jennifer Mueller allows the reader to get a feel of the refreshing

makes the heart leap with elated joy in a poignant tale that flows
consistently.

Lord Dronovic is a well-researched
and cheerfully wry tale which will inspire readers and perhaps awaken an
interest in this fascinating historical period. As with all Jennifer
Mueller’s stories, this is well worth reading.

Lord Dronovic breezes with romance and passion, transporting the reader into
a beautiful love story. I found Jódís a determined woman in all her actions.
I thought the way she sought to keep the land under development while
Dronovic was away showed great strength, as well as her love for him.
Dronovic’s personality is quite charming and I love the way he and Jódís
have a simmering relationship once he returns, almost like a courtship.
Jennifer Mueller tells a picturesque tale of two charismatic people who have
a thriving love that endures. Her characters are duty bound to each other,
but still, the flames of passion they hold for the other is priceless in
this enchanting read.
