Ancient Walls Portugal

What is the worst thing that could go wrong on a vacation? Maya Montgomery just wants a vacation with her son, that's it, but with her ex giving her trouble to the point of needing a restraining order, even relaxing involves a fight. At least until everyone in the hotel is kept inside with days of rain. After the way her ex has been all it will take is someone being nice to her and Carson is nothing but nice. Nice to look at, nice to talk to, nice to go to bed with. For once in her life, things are looking up, until her son is kidnapped and the note orders her to find a hidden treasure. Treasure not everyone is even convinced exists and her son's life depends on it. So much for a peaceful vacation.

All my Dreams Majorca

When all of Loryn's family was taken from her, she just ran. Fixing up a house in Majorca may sound like a dream to most, but she was only hiding from life. When a movie producer decides her house is perfect for a location, life comes charging in and he drags her into the world once more. But does he bring too much of life to make it work?

This Uncommon Solitude

This Uncommon Solitude: Pandemic Poetry from the Pacific Northwest

This Uncommon Solitude captures the myriad and diverse experiences of Red Wheelbarrow Writers during these times of quarantine and the COVID-19 pandemic. We reach out to connect but we can’t physically touch each other. We are shaken by news of widespread suffering and death caused by a novel virus that inexorably spirals out of control. We feel powerless and isolated. Ongoing catastrophes of racism and environmental decline trouble our hearts. For many of us, poetry has helped to connect us, one to another, as we share experiences and insights, express our grief and sadness, fears and pain, gratitude and hope. In joining together, we feel our way forward as best we can toward making sense of our transformed world.

Memory into Memoir

Red Wheelbarrow Writers are a loose affiliation of lively artists based in Bellingham, Washington. As a community, we host a monthly Happy Hour and a monthly Writerly Book Club. We are co-founders of Washington memoir Month. We offer classes, contests, novel writing events, bookstore readings, poetry projects, and parties. Red Wheelbarrow Writers are individually productive, and as a group, we support, encourage, and learn from one another. Memory into Memoir is our first anthology.

The Pulpwood Queens celebrate 20 years

In 2020, the Pulpwood Queens—and their male counterparts, the Timber Guys—are celebrating twenty years as the world’s largest meeting-and-discussing bookclub, with over 750 local clubs internationally. The fact that many of these women also wear tiaras, leopard prints, and bright pink to their meetings gives us a peek into their exuberant love for life, which is reflected in their love for books and each other. This collection of essays by authors, book club members, and supporters of the Queens, is a love letter to the founder and director, Kathy L. Murphy, and an ode to the written word and the place that literature and reading play in all of our lives.
